After seeing this bicycle in Paragon Sports in Manhattan, I knew I had to buy it. The solid construction and compact design demonstrated a leap forward from the original Schwinn Airdyne. At about 95lbs, schwinn exercise bike was solid for a health club/rehabilitation middle setting but light for a consumer. While I have multiple gym memberships, I thought this would be a nice item to have at my parents’ house both for their use and when I visit. CHOICE: I was looking for an indoor exercise machine that I would like to make use of on a every day basis, while taking in a show or read. SHIPPING: lots of people had major issues when they ordered the #213 bicycle by Amazon (read the reviews, sort by lowest). I took the plunge anyway, hoping that my Amazon Prime membership would kick in (faster shipping often means less damage). The technique gave me odd and changing dates all over the place (will ship in two days out, expected arrival week out, ..) and there was only one shipping option (Standard). UPDATE ON 12/27/2010. After year of steady use, I am happy with the machine. In my original review (below) I reported a clicking noise, but I finally figured out that schwinn exercise bike was because the locking knob on the stool adjuster was not tightened down; one time corrected the bicycle has been silent. It’s been ridden an average of two 1/2 hours per week.

I looked at plenty of bikes at plenty of stores & could not find anything else under $800 that wasn’t a rickety pile of rubbish. schwinn exercise bike Schwinn stood out because schwinn exercise bike was virtually silent, most of its important parts were metal & the chair was basically replaceable with no special adaptors necessary. I have been using schwinn exercise bike for about a month now & cannot say I am disappointed with its performance in any way.

be warned when ordering from Amazon: schwinn exercise bike will definitely arrive damaged in some way as schwinn exercise bike ships from the factory in a flimsy box that is held together with staples & plastic straps. In my case I didn’t recognize that a couple parts were cracked until I already had it 95% assembled, & there was no way I was one time ever going to get it to fit back in the demolished box FedEx dropped it off in.

I think the worst thing about it is the computer. The UI is beyond incomprehensible & I honestly have no idea what it is even supposed to do. I keep pushing buttons until it starts letting me adjust the resistance & ignore its continually blinking segmented displays. I am positive it doesn’t measure much of anything exactly, so I don’t care to learn more about its eccentricities. I have a watch & I do know how to take my pulse–all I need on an exercise bicycle is a simple knob, thanks.

The bikes feature’s are limited, but I didn’t pay for bells and whistles. You get six preprogrammed exercise profiles and a free form mode where you adjust resistance on the fly. You cannot set custom programs, but this is not a drawback for me- I would not bother doing that anyway. Navigating the menu, like anything with this few buttons, takes some getting used to but is only a hassle at first.

Assembly is simple, I had schwinn exercise bike together in 15 minutes and tools are included.

It is simple to adjust the chair height and handlebar tilt, but note that there is no way to adjust the chair post angle. If schwinn exercise bike is uncomfortable, you’ll must play with the chair height and handlebar tilt until schwinn exercise bike feels better.

The unit is calm when in use and the magnetic resistance is smooth and comfortable. Resistance range goes from impossibly low to as high or higher than I’d ever require it to be for extended cardio routines.
